Location
  • It should be traveled to Pitawala Pathana, which is about 35 kilometers from Matale on the Illukkumbura road and about 27 kilometers from New Laggala on the Illukkumbura road. From there, it is about 800 meters.
Accessibility
  • Since some development work is underway on the road, it is better to come in a suitable vehicle.

  • The weather is mild from January to May, while there is a rainy season from November to January. There is also a strong wind from June to November.

Travel Tips & Advice
  • You must obtain a ticket to enter.
  • Bring appropriate hats, clothing, and footwear.
  • Be careful when taking photos as it is a steep cliff.
  • Be careful when traveling there when there are strong winds, and follow the instructions given by forest conservation officers or the tourist police before going there.
  • Cars and vehicles should not be allowed to enter the Pitawala Plain.
  • Polythene and plastic bottles should not be carried. Since this ecosystem is home to endemic animals and plants, only designated trails should be used.
  • When traveling through the Pitawala forest,
    • Animals such as wild elephants and leopards may be present, so precautions should be taken to avoid harming yourself and those animals.
    • It is prohibited to collect and carry any living or non-living part of this protected area.

This unique location at the end of the Pitawala Plain in a World Heritage Conservation Area is known as the Mini Worlds’ End. From here, which is at the top of a steep cliff, a very beautiful view can be seen. Since the beauty and danger here are mixed, it is the responsibility of everyone who travels there to be safe. In this area of ​​high biological value, various plant and animal species can be seen. The animal species that are often found are endemic to this area. By coming here, you can see an aesthetic experience that cannot be seen anywhere else in Sri Lanka. Various types of birds, frogs, leopards that come here occasionally, deer, wild elephants that come periodically, and wasps can be seen here. It is a great kindness to this ecosystem that, do not leave anything you have brought from outside here except the experience you gain by coming here.
