From Galewela on the Aadiyagala road. 7.5 km. You will find this reservoir near the Beliyakanda junction. It is a beautiful body of water, where you can even take a bath in a safe place. It is said that the word Devahuwa was formed by combining the two words Diyahuwa. This reservoir located in the Matale district supplies water to the paddy fields of Matale and Anuradhapura districts.

In the year 1950, the renovation of this reservoir was started and the ancient tank was converted into a larger reservoir. At that time, bricks belonging to the Anuradhapura period and a part of the old tank wall used to build the ancient queen’s fort and the tank were found. Legend has it that the ancient tank here was built by King Dutugemunu, and that he discovered this land when he was traveling from Anuradhapura to Malaya. This tank, which is also fed by the Mahaweli River today, was originally built by taking water from the Kuda Oya and Kalugal Oya.
